Become smokefree in 2022

With 2021 ending, many are looking to the next year and what that might have to offer.

New Years Resolutions are a great way to kickstart trying something new or leaving something behind, but a lot of new years resolutions get forgotten about after the first couple of weeks.

A great statistic for stopping smoking, is that if you manage to make it to 28 days smokefree, you are 5 times more likely to quit smoking for good. This is going for just 1 month without a cigarette, which could lead to you kicking the habit.

If you are wanting to become smokefree in 2022, here are a few tips from us:

  • Set a quit date. If you randomly decide one day to quit, you may not see it through properly, whereas if you set a date, you are committing yourself to stop from this day.
  • Speak to friends and family, let them know you are wanting to quit and will need their support.
  • Think about when you are most likely to reach for a cigarette, is there something you can do in that time to distract you from smoking instead?
  • Consider what you’re eating, some foods including meat can make cigarettes more satisfying. Other foods such as cheese, fruit and vegetables, make cigarettes taste terrible, so look at what you can change up in your life.
  • Look at changing your routine, do you normally have a cigarette after your first cup of coffee in the morning? Look at swapping this out for a fresh orange juice in a different room.
